Laser hair removal uses light energy at a specific wavelength to target the hair follicle. The melanin, or pigment, in the hair absorbs that energy and turns it into heat, which damages the follicle so it produces less hair.

Because the laser is looking for pigment, it works on hair with color. Clear, blonde and gray hair does not have enough of it to respond.

Many lasers deliver energy in a single strong pulse. That is where the classic “rubber-band snap” feeling comes from. The Motus AZ+ works differently:

• It moves instead of zapping. The handpiece glides continuously over the treatment area, delivering gradual, repeated passes for even coverage without missed spots.
• It stays cool. Energy is delivered through a cooled sapphire crystal tip.
• It works on contact. The Motus AZ+ applies energy directly on the skin, so very little is lost along the way. Other pulse lasers lose about 50% of their energy before it reaches the follicle. The Motus AZ+ delivers 94% to 97% of it to the target.
• It has two wavelengths. An Alexandrite wavelength (755nm) for finer hair, and an Nd:YAG wavelength (1064nm) that reaches deeper, for coarser, darker hair and for tanned or darker skin.

Treatment settings are calibrated to your skin tone, which is how one device can safely treat everything from very pale to very dark skin.

This is the question we hear most. Because of the cooled tip and the gradual passes, most clients describe the treatment as warm and comfortable. Some even fall asleep during their session.

Downtime is minimal. In fact, the treated area usually looks no different afterward, and many people go straight back to their day. One client told us she did it on her lunch break and put a little makeup back on before heading out.

Over the following days, the stubble that is left behind is stunted and falls out on its own. This is called hair shedding. Once that hair is released, the follicle may take longer to grow another one, if it does at all.

More than one, and here is why. The laser can only effectively target follicles that are in an active growth phase at the time of treatment. Not every hair is in that phase at once.
